Saxon Dressage Group 2011
Our Riding Club is called Saxon because it was formed in Bradford On Avon originally. The club is a roaming club, does purely dressage and has members within a 20 mile radius of Bradford On Avon.
The club is affiliated to British Riding Clubs and in 2010 celebrated its 25th Aniversary. We marked the occasion at our Wadswick Shows in June and July with a celebration and cake. The club currently has around 50 members.
We consider ourselves to be a grass roots club who encourage members of any level with or without their own horse. We run tests at all levels at each competition from Walk & Trot through to Medium. The majority of our entries come from competitors who are at Walk & Trot and Prelim levels. In view of this we have developed our own Walk & Trot tests. These test copies are available via the downloads page.
To encourage younger competitiors we run some Junior classes at larger shows which includes a lead rein class for the under 10s. (Please see downloads page)
Membership is open to all riders and we now have a junior membership. Subscription is £22 per year and includes Club newsletters, reduced entry fees and affiliation to British Riding Clubs (BRC) You will receive the BRC Rider magazine and be eligible for BRC benefits, training opportunities, lectures and demonstrations. As an affiliated club members have the opportunity to enter BRC Area competitions with a view to going to the championships if successful.
Our year ends with our Championship Show which is held in October. To qualify for the Championship Classes, Members need to have been placed 1st to 6th in a class and have a score of over 55%. Qualifying slips are given out with results at the competitions.
Please note as a member we do ask you to help out at least one show per year and will ask you to commit to a date at the start of the year or on joining.
A Social membership is also available.
